# How to open a new app template

Using a template is an easy way to create beautiful, dynamic overlays with Singular. Here's how to create a new control app from a template:

1. Open **Templates** in the upper left of Dashboard.
2. Browse or search for a template.
3. Select a template to see a preview.
4. Click **Use this template**. A new [app instance](/support/singular-terminology.md#app-instance) based on the template can now be found under Apps in Dashboard.
